Is it safe?

Someone willingly walking in sin opens social media.

They’ve been contemplating the heaviness of their decisions.

Recognizing their waywardness even though they haven’t shown it.

Considering going to a local church to ask for guidance on how to turn their life around.

They’ve heard your church is full of the Spirit and believes in restoration.

“Is it even possible?” they consider.

“Have I gone too far and hurt too many to return?” they wonder.

As they open social media to send a message to the leader of your church…

The first thing they see is…

Your post.

The one you shared a few days earlier upon hearing what they’d done.

I’ll let you write the rest of this story, friend.

Do they read what you said and think:

“They really are like Jesus. I really should reach out.”

Or

“Of course they would judge me, nevermind.”

?????

The choice is yours, ambassador of Christ.

If their hand is on the door and they read what you say…

…Do they stay?

Do your words make room for a lost sheep to think your church is a safe place to be…

Or do they reek of arrogance, aloofness and shrieks of “Pharisee.”
